What is Peer Helper Services?
A self-help support service provided to individuals with disabilities by individuals with similar disabilities. Peer Helper Services involves helping others to manage, remove, or cope with barriers they encounter. Who are Peer Helpers?
Peer Helpers are not professional counselors. They are individuals with disabilities who have gone through a volunteer training program through the CILNCP.
How does it work?
Once you have requested Peer Helper Services a peer helper will contact you to discuss your goals. Together your will develop a plan to reach those goals. Confidentiality is maintained at all times in this process. It is between you and the peer helper how often you meet. Peer services can be provided:

How can I become a Peer Helper?
The Center for Independent Living of North Central PA offers peer helper training to anyone who is interested. It is a 10-week training program, 2 hours per week. Request Information
