Meet the Administration
Renee Sluzalis
Renee Sluzalis, an eight-year veteran of Independent Living circles, has been named the next Executive Director of the Center for Independent Living of North Central Pennsylvania.
Ms. Sluzalis will replace George Morton, who will be retiring as ED on December 31, 2007, but remaining as an advisor to the new ED and the board of directors.
Ms. Sluzalis began her tenure with CILNCP in 1999 as an Independent Living Specialist and has held several positions within the agency, including her current position as Program Manager of the Independent Living department.
“Over my years with CILNCP, I have seen the agency grow and I have been appreciative to be a part of such a unique organization. CILNCP has expanded its services and programs and has grown to be a strong light in our community and the north central region we serve,” commented Ms. Sluzalis.
“It will be my pleasure to lead CILNCP into its next phase of providing services to persons with disabilities. Having a daughter and a father with a disability, I have always been keenly aware of the need to carry on the fight for equal rights and opportunities for people with disabilities. Now more than ever, I am greatly motivated to identify areas of oppression that still exist in our society, and I look forward to working with our staff, board and consumers to help bring awareness to the communities that we serve, and continue to develop programs and services that will afford people with disabilities equal rights, access and independence,” she added.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our retiring Executive Director, George Morton, for all the hard work, dedication and vision he brought to CILNCP. His 12 years of service to CILNCP has created a strong and healthy organization that is poised to move into the next phase of service to our consumers. Mr. Morton's leadership has set a great example of how an organization should be managed and I look forward to building upon the awesome foundation that he laid,” remarked Ms. Sluzalis.
Ms. Sluzalis, and her husband William (Buzz), are the parents of three children, Brittani, Shaylin and Makaylin.
CILNCP board president Hank Colling commented, “I am delighted and excited about the results of our board’s special ED Search Committee. They did a great job. Congratulations to Renee and we, the board, look forward to working with her in the years ahead as we continue to advance our vision of equality, dignity and independence for all persons with disabilities in North Central PA.”
CILNCP will hold an Open House on Friday, December 7, 2007 from 2 to 5 p.m. for the purpose of agencies, consumers and partners to meet and chat with Ms. Sluzalis. Feel free to come see what CILNCP is all about!
